Kirklees Council is recruiting a replacement assistant director to play a key role in the finance team.
Gill Eastwood, the council’s current Assistant Director of Financial Management, Risk, Performance and IT, is leaving the council.
In a private part of the council’s Personnel Committee on Monday it was agreed that the council will advertise for a replacement, both internally and externally, in the near future.
David Smith, Director of Resources, has now confirmed: “Gill has played a vital role in the management of our finances over the last few years as the council has sought to cope with unprecedented reductions in our spending.
“We wish her well in her new role as Head of Audit with the Canal and River Trust – a national charity caring for our canals and waterways, formerly British Waterways.”
The post holder will play a key role in supporting Mr Smith in managing the council’s finances and IT functions.
The person will also assist councillors and other officers with the budget and spending plans.
And it comes with major responsibility – the position is directly responsible for 290 staff and a budget of £12m.
The departing officer was a grade 21 job on a salary of £84,324.
