INSTRUMENTS stored at Kirklees Music School are to be given a new lease of life thanks to a cash boost.

Insurance group LV= has pledged £1,000 from its regional community committee to back the school’s maintenance programme.

Principal Thom Meredith said: “Our loan instruments are maintained and serviced by the families that borrow them but we also have donated stock and older instruments which would benefit from an overhaul to bring them into a useable state before being handed on to new students.

“Thanks to the donation from LV= more children will be able to access more instruments.”

The money will also be used to produce new instrument identification tags

Peter Horton, chief operating officer at LV= said: “As one of the larger employees in the Kirklees area we are committed to supporting the local community.

“The music school does great work with local children and we are delighted to be able to help their efforts with this donation.”
