CLASSES to show people how to observe Ramadan and safeguard health will get underway today.
Figures show that a high proportion of Kirklees people with diabetes are Muslims and will be preparing to fast for Ramadan, which runs from July 19 to August 18.
A campaign to support people with diabetes observe a safer Ramadan by learning how to safeguard health whilst meeting religious obligations has been initiated by NHS Kirklees.
And the North Huddersfield Trust School at Fartown will be championing the way with NHS Kirklees Safer Ramadan Programme.
A community awareness session is being held tonight at 6pm and is open to parents and residents to learn about diabetes and how to be safe in Ramadan.
Around 700 people have so far attended Safer Ramadan awareness sessions in Kirklees.
