KIRKLEES Council is to offer free plastering and tiling courses to help jobless people.

The project is being run for adults who are unemployed and in receipt of benefits.

Courses are running at ‘build academies’ in both Dewsbury and Huddersfield.

The 29-week course (15 hours a week) will start in February and is an ideal opportunity for people who are looking for new career as no previous experience of plastering and tiling is necessary.

Successful applicants will work towards gaining industry-recognised qualifications – a level 1 qualification in plastering and a City & Guilds level 2 diploma in wall and floor tiling.

Recruitment events are being held on Wednesday, February 15, at 10.30am at the ‘build’ Academy, Unit 3 Gatehouse Enterprise Centre, Albert Street, Lockwood, and on the same day at 2.30pm at the ‘build’ Academy, Unit 306 Bretton Park Phase 3, Bretton Street, Savile Town.
