COUNCILLORS are set to decide on the way forward for education in Batley today.
Kirklees Council’s Cabinet will rule on the future of high schools in the town.
After consulting parents, the council’s officers have recommended setting up a girls-only school next to the boys-only Batley Business and Enterprise College in 2013.
The plan would see Batley Girls’ High School move from its current site at Howden Clough.
The two single-sex schools would have a combined total of 1,350 pupils and would share some facilities.
The council’s Cabinet meets at Batley Town Hall at 4pm to decide on the proposal.
