LEISURE staff in Kirklees are celebrating coming top in a national sports assessment.

Kirklees Culture and Leisure Services’ physical activity and sports development strand was joint top in the country in an assessment by Quest.

The scheme is the quality standard for the UK’s sports and leisure industry.

It measures all aspects of management, development and delivery through assessments.

Following an assessment earlier this year, Kirklees received an overall score of 97%, a score only matched by Oldham Council.

David Morby, assistant head of service for leisure development, said: “This is our sixth Quest assessment and we have consistently improved our score.”
