TIME is running out to register to vote.

Kirklees Council elections and the Alternative Vote referendum take place on May 5.

The deadline for joining the electoral register is Thursday, April 14.

The Electoral Commission is also urging people who will be away on polling day to register for a postal vote.

Yorkshire spokeswoman Barbara Lines said: “People don’t always realise they can have their say in different ways, including by post or by asking someone you trust to cast your vote for you.

“So, if you are going to be away on Thursday May 5, take a few minutes now to decide how to make sure your voice will still be heard.”
