KIRKWOOD Hospice has received a large donation from the national freemasons charity.

Members of the hospice were presented with a cheque for £3,272 following a grant application.

Trusts and legacy fundraiser Julie Shaw said: “We have received donations annually from the freemasons but this was the largest grant to date.

“We are extremely grateful to the Masonic Grand Charity and the funds will go toward the running costs of the hospice.

“It is a huge amount of money and we cannot thank them enough.”

Chairman of the Huddersfield and Halifax branch of freemasons Alan Elstone said: “This money has come from the London national centre for freemasons.

“Kirkwood along with other hospices made an application to the grant charity and they have been successful.

Mr Elstone and other members of the Huddersfield and Halifax branch were taken on a tour of the facilities.
