A KITCHEN in a flat was damaged by smoke early yesterday.
Huddersfield firefighters went to the flat in Devonshire Court, Lockwood, at about 3.15am.
A young woman had returned home after a night out and tried to light a cigarette on the gas cooker.
Nylon clothes piled near the cooker had ignited, causing the fire.
The woman dealt with it before the firefighters arrived.
