A ROBBER slashed a teenager with a knife after she refused to hand over any money.

Detectives are now anxious to catch the man who attacked the 19-year-old on Whitby Avenue in Fartown at 9.10pm last night.

The young woman had gone to post a letter and the attacker was hanging around near the post box.

He demanded money, but she said she had none.

He continued to order her to hand over cash and threatened to knife her if she refused.

He then slashed her just above her right hip causing a one-and-a-half inch cut. The attacker fled towards Bradford Road.

He is white, in his early 20s, 5ft 6ins with a black hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.

Det Con Russ Conlon, of Kirklees CID intelligence unit, said: “There was absolutely no need at all for this man to use a weapon. He needs to be caught and we would urge anyone who has any suspicions about who he may be to contact us immediately.’’
