A KNIFE was held to a teenager's throat during an attempted robbery on a bus in Huddersfield.

The teenager, from Lepton, was on a bus in Southgate at noon yesterday.

The 231 bus had come from Wakefield.

A youth sitting behind the teenager put a knife to his throat.

Police believe he intended to rob him, but nothing was stolen.

The attacker fled when the bus stopped opposite Sainsbury's supermarket on Southgate.

He then ran towards the Kingsgate shopping centre.

He was described as being aged 15 to 17, with short, cropped hair and a dark, hooded top.

He was 5ft 8in tall and slim.

The victim suffered minor cuts to his throat and was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. He went home after treatment.
