GREENPEACE protesters invaded Land Rover's Solihull factory today to protest at production of "climate- wrecking" Range Rovers for the city market.

The group says some 35 volunteers, dressed as staff, breached security at the West Midlands plant at around 7am to demonstrate against greenhouse gas emissions.

They locked themselves to the car's assembly line to halt production.

Greenpeace says they are seeking a pledge from parent company Ford to stop making and marketing the cars for city use.

Ben Stewart, of Greenpeace, said:

"These are climate-wrecking cars that will tackle nothing steeper than a speed bump but the green house gas they spew out is killing people."

He added volunteers were leafleting staff, while the protesters have food and water and plan to "stay as long as we can".
