A VILLAGE'S late-night bus is being restored after protests.

Cuts this year meant the 310 service was arriving in Holme village just after 11pm - then returning to Holmfirth with its lights off.

Passengers complained about being stranded.

Now, from August 31, the bus will carry passengers from Holme to Holmfirth.

Tory councillor Donald Firth, who represents Holme Valley South on Kirklees Council, said: "This was important for employees and customers at the Fleece Inn, who wanted to travel to Holmfirth.

"Staff had to make other arrangements and some customers had stopped travelling to the pub as they had no way of getting home.

"This was affecting trade. We are delighted that commonsense has prevailed and First have reinstated the service."
