A LEAFLET showing walks, cycle rides and events throughout the Kirklees countryside is now available.

The latest edition of Wild About Countryside in Kirklees is the 20th edition of the guide and covers the period from November to the end of April next year.

It gives dates and details of walks, cycle rides, environmental volunteer tasks and hands-on workshops.

It also covers events in the Kirklees countryside, at nature reserves and at Castle Hill at Almondbury and Oakwell Hall Country Park in Birstall.

There is also information about the wide range of leaflets and publications available on walks and trails, cycle routes and areas of wildlife interest.

There are contact details for groups and societies using and promoting the Kirklees countryside.

This edition includes information about the 2010 Upper Colne Valley Calendar Photograph Competition, a new digitised map of Kirklees rights-of-way, the rules of the countryside and how to get involved in caring for the countryside.

Copies of the leaflet are available by contacting John Gleadow of the Kirklees Countryside Unit, Kirklees Culture and Leisure Services.
