A WALK from the Golcar Appleyard picnic site completes a trilogy of leaflets encouraging people to walk and explore the Colne Valley countryside while enjoying picnics.
The walk starts from the car park at the picnic site off Fernlea Grove in Golcar.
After crossing the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, it follows the River Colne towards Titanic Spa.
It returns to the picnic site via Lowestwood Lane and a footpath between the canal and railway line.
The route is one mile and is suitable for young children, but not push chairs as there are some steps along the route.
A leaflet with instructions on how to get to Golcar Appleyard picnic site and a detailed route map of the walk is available free from Kirklees Council outlets.
Also available are leaflets on two other picnic site walks – one from Tunnel End picnic site in Marsden and the other from Rotcher picnic site in Slaithwaite.
The leaflets have been produced by Kirklees Countryside Unit.
