A youth cancer charity is celebrating a fundraising boost worth over £3,000.

The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust received a donation from local The Professionals networking organisation.

Elland-based networking group The Professionals raised £3,150 for the charity.

The big-hearted group of business people had adopted the good cause as their Charity of the Year and raised funds through donations from memberships and took part in a dragon boat race.

The group have also become an official corporate supporter of the Trust.

The Professionals is a not-for-profit organisation which is run for the mutual benefit of its members.

The organisation’s primary purpose is to support each other’s businesses by building long standing relationships and exchanging business referrals.

The group’s chairman, Will Taylor, said: “The Professionals were keen to support a local charity and we are delighted to welcome The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust on board, making them an honorary member.

“We are pleased to be supporting them financially as well as helping the Trust reach out to the corporate sector.”

The Trust’s manager, Pam Thornes, said she was delighted with the ‘amazing support’ and donation from the group.

She added: “Additionally we are grateful for being their chosen charity and afforded the courtesy of membership of the group.

“This has been a huge added bonus to the Trust.

“ The group members all actively support and promote the Trust and it is certainly networking at its best.”
