VICTIMS of Parkinson's disease and their carers will be able to get information about it at a special event.

The Huddersfield branch of the Parkinson's Disease Society is hosting it to mark Parkinson's Awareness Week.

The event will be in Huddersfield Town Hall next Thursday.

It will be open over lunchtime and tea and coffee will be provided.

Jennifer Tellez, society secretary, said: "The event is open to all.

"We hope to attract anyone who would like further information on Parkinson's, the society and the Huddersfield branch.

"There will be representatives from Age Concern and the carers organisation Crossroads.

"Our community support worker, who offers help and advice to people living with Parkinson's, will be present," added Ms Tellez.

The society is the UK's only charity for people with Parkinson's, their families, friends and carers.

It has more than 300 branches and support groups across the UK.
