STAFF at Spenborough Baths are running a course to train people to become lifeguards.

The National Aquatic Rescue Standard certificate is a recognised qualification for lifeguards.

It will be given on completion of the course - which takes two weekends at the Liversedge pool - and an exam.

The £150 course is open to anyone aged 16 or above who wants to learn about pool safety, first aid, rescue skills and lifeguarding.

It runs from 5pm to 9pm on Friday and from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Candidates continue from 5pm the following Friday and throughout that weekend.

On the second Sunday, they will take the exam, which covers everything they have learned, in order to gain their certificate.
