ONE of Huddersfield's most successful businessmen will be a speaker at Huddersfield University's Guest Entrepreneur lectures.

Ken Davy, owner of Huddersfield Giants and Huddersfield Town, will be the speaker at the Canalside West lecture Theatre, in Firth Street, on Thursday, January 29.

Described as a serial entrepreneur, Mr Davy began DBS Management in 1983 which became Britain's largest independent financial adviser.

He sold the business in 2001 and the following year launched SimplyBiz which provides support services for directly regulated financial advisers.

Next month two other business people will be sharing their experiences.

On Tuesday, November 4, Suzanne Hart will give her personal reflections on entrepreneurship and business.

Born in Edinburgh, she relocated to Yorkshire and set up York Place Company Services, the company registration and search agency in 1986.

She now has offices in Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham and London.

George Buckley, from Sheffield, graduated from the then Huddersfield Polytechnic in the 1970s and is now chairman and chief executive of the Brunswick Corporation in America.

It has more than 28,000 employees worldwide and its products include bowling alleys, pool and billiard tables, leisure craft and Mercury marine engines.

He will be speaking on November 18.
