STAFF at the Huddersfield branch of the Leeds Building Society have put unwanted clothes to good use – by donating their old uniforms to support the British Heart Foundation.

Four hundred staff across the mutual’s branches, which include the Market Street office in Huddersfield, donated more than 4,000 garments as the society updated its uniforms for staff.

All items will support the BHF’s network of more than 700 shops, which include ones in Huddersfield, Brighouse and Dewsbury.

Mavis Dillon, the charity’s area manager, said: “We’re so pleased that Leeds Building Society chose to donate their uniforms.

“Many are of a saleable quality and we hope that this activity will also encourage the staff to continue to donate their unwanted items to the nation’s heart charity.”

Paul Kaye, the building society’s general manager for sales, said: “We are delighted with our new uniform. Our previous uniform served us well and the fabrics remain of very high quality.”
