TWO law firms are merging.
Huddersfield firm Ramsdens Solicitors is joining forces with Elland law firm David Garsed and Sons.
The new firm, called Ramsdens Solicitors Incorporating David Garsed and Sons, will have 10 partners and 100 staff.
Ramsdens' Paul Joyce will remain managing partner and be based at Ramsden Street, Huddersfield.
Mr Garsed will become a partner of the new firm and head its Southgate, Elland, office.
The merger means the firm will be able to offer private and business clients a complete legal service - including Legal Aid - from its Elland offices.
The family law department will be headed by Helen Thewlis, with support from solicitors Jane Auty and Joanne Brown.
Mr Joyce said: "This merger represents a tremendous opportunity for both firms.
"We believe it will bring great benefits for clients in Elland, as we can now offer a complete legal service typically only available in a larger firm."
He added: "The merger also provides the opportunity for Ramsdens to further streng- then its position by expanding into Calder- dale."
Ramsdens was formed in the 1870s and has offices in Ramsden Street and at Edgerton, Slaithwaite and Holmfirth.
