TOWN hall officials today began legal action to force travellers to move from a Huddersfield play area.
Travellers with half-a-dozen caravans are camped on the field in the shadow of the Galpharm Stadium.
They moved on to the Town Avenue site yesterday. It is thought they went there after leaving the nearby B&Q car park, off Leeds Road.
A Kirklees Council spokeswoman said: "We have started proceedings to move them on.
"The court date will be some time next week, if they haven't gone by then."
Other Huddersfield sites hit by caravan invasions in recent weeks included Newsome and Leeds Road Playing Fields.
