AN AMERICAN TV show starring Huddersfield actress Lena Headey has been axed.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles ran for two series, but US network Fox has confirmed that it will not be returning for a third.

The big budget TV series was based on the hugely-popular film franchise and starred Lena as the title character Sarah Connor.

Shown in the UK on Virgin 1, the show was set after the events of the second instalment of the film series.

The sci-fi show premiered to rave reviews and more than 18m viewers, but disappointing ratings during the second series led to it being scrapped.

The show was a big boost to Lena’s profile in the States.

The 34-year-old was a pupil at Shelley High School when she was talent-spotted in a school production.

She went on to star in films including The Remains of the Day, St Trinian’s and 300.
