CHURCHES got together for weekly lunches over Lent to raise some money for a good cause.
Pam Kent, from Newsome Church and Communities, was able to present Helen Dyson and Karen Selley, of the Welcome Centre, a cheque for £750.
Some 50 people went to each one of the lunches at Newsome Methodist Church, St John’s and St Paul’s, Newsome.
Holy Trinity Church, South Crosland, St Stephen’s C of E Church, Lockwood, and Netherton Methodist Church also got involved.
Mrs Kent said: “We had lunches each week after which was a short meditation session.
“We didn’t charge for the lunches but people were asked to give donations.
“The money will go towards the general running of the Welcome Centre on Lord Street.”
