HUDDERSFIELD firms are being asked to get behind a fundraising drive for the Samaritans.

Former Huddersfield University student Leon Doyle, star of BBC1’s The Apprentice, is spearheading efforts to encourage firms to take part in Feel Good Friday, which takes place on February 3.

Feel Good Friday aims to recruit people to take part in “feel-good” themed fundraising events and to challenge the workplace for a donation to the Samaritans, in return.

Employees are being urged to organise activities such as going to work in slippers, playing songs or hosting lunchtime Zumba and aerobics classes.

Leon, founder of The Master Menu, online food order service, said: “January is always a tough month for all suffering from post-Christmas blues and struggling to keep to New Year’s Resolutions.

“Fundraising is a great way of boosting staff morale and bringing a business together for a fantastic cause.”

Funds raised through Feel Good Friday will help the charity answer more calls from people with nowhere else to turn.
