A MAN has appeared in court charged with possessing cocaine.

David May, of Highroyd, Lepton, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He is alleged to have had a small quantity of the class A drug at his home on September 3.

James Weekes, prosecuting, said that police had executed a search warrant at the address.

He said that the officers discovered a bag of white powder.

May, 22, denies the charge as he claims that the powder was not cocaine.

He said that the bag contained ‘bash’, a form of drug cutting agent.

His trial will take place in the Huddersfield court on March 8. May was granted unconditional bail until that date.
