THEY know a good pint at Berry Brow!
And now the members and officials of Berry Brow Liberal Club are celebrating two awards.
The club has just been voted Huddersfield Real Ale Club of the Year from the Campaign for Real Ale, for the quality and range of its beers.
And Berry Brow has also won the Yorkshire Regional Club of the Year 2003 title and will go on to the northern finals later this year.
Much of the success is due to the hard work of steward Russ Orton and his wife Anne who took over in April 1997.
Bob Tomlinson, chairman of the CAMRA branch, said: "By their hard work they have made the club what it is today - a worthy contender for the Good Beer Guide and winner of the local clubs award.
"The committee and its long-serving members have an enlightened approach to real ale and are committed to serving quality beers and to operating within a pub as well as a club culture."
Berry Brow has had a club on the current Park Gate site since 1884 but its presence in the village can be traced further back.
Now the club has a deal with the Jennings brewery and boasts regular guest beers from Burton Bridge, Phoenix, Ossett, Durham and Salamander breweries.
Three football teams operate from the club, and there are also snooker, darts and dominoes teams.
