DANCE fans will be able to go back in time in a dance extravaganza featuring four live bands.

The aim of the event is to re-create the era from the mid-60s and early 70s and is organised by the same man who recently arranged three successful 50s dance hall Palais Nights in Huddersfield.

The organiser, Dave Brian, said: “It will be time to dig out those miniskirts, hotpants, drainpipes and hipsters.

“The music will complement both the rock ’n’ rollers who like to bop and also the old mods who like to twist and ‘hitch hike’.’’

The event, called the Rock And Soul Party, will be at St Patrick's Catholic Centre on Trinity Street on Saturday, October 26.

The Palais Nights were held in Marsden Mechanics Hall and at St Patrick’s.

As with the other three events there will be a raffle and the proceeds will be given to the Alzheimer’s Society.

This will be through Honley fund-raiser Stephanie Carter, who did a ‘husky trail’ in Alaska in February to raise money for the society.

Her trek across the Yukon territory followed the death of her grandmother, Edie Martindale, who had Alzheimer’s.

Top of the bill are The Rockits from Hull, who deliver a Mersey sound.

Others on the bill are Huddersfield soft rockers Storm, well-known for their humour and stage antics.

Huddersfield band Higher Ground’s rendition of Chris Farlowe’s Out of Time and Gerry Rafferty’s Baker Street are to be heard to be believed.

The final band, Vital Signs, cover soul, Beatles and Rolling Stones tracks.

The first band will be on stage at 8pm and the music will go on to midnight.

Tickets are available at St Patrick’s and The Station Tavern in St Georges Square.

They cost £10 each and the doors open at 7.30pm.
