LIBRARIES at colleges and other institutions across Kirklees are throwing open their doors to all-comers.

Anyone living, working or studying in Kirklees will be able to use them for reference or study.

It's all part of a project to encourage more people to take advantage of the printed materials on offer.

Organisations taking part include Huddersfield University, the Technical College and the Connexions careers and advice centres for young people in High Street, Huddersfield, and Dewsbury.

People will also be able to go to the libraries at Greenhead College, Huddersfield New College and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary's learning centre - although appointments will be needed at these.

Organisers of the Welcome scheme said they were determined to make it easier for anyone to be able to get the information they needed to improve their education.

The project is due to get its official launch at a ceremony on Thursday, January 22.

Huddersfield Labour MP Barry Sheerman is due to be among the guests.
