A NATIONAL charity which helps save lives at sea is calling on Huddersfield to get rid of unwanted collectables and give to its annual Jewellery Appeal.

The appeal by The Royal National Lifeboat Institution has been running for 22 years.

The charity hopes people will give jewellery, medals and collectables that they no longer want.

This will help to pay for the charity’s life-saving work.

The gifts will be sold at auctions to raise money for vital training and equipment for the RNLI’s volunteer crews.

Maren Caldwell, the charity’s head of regional fundraising and communications, said: “The RNLI relies on public generosity to help its volunteer crews.

“his appeal is a fine example of the support we receive.

“The range of items that has been sent in over the lifetime of the appeal has been fantastic.

“Every donation plays a vital role in helping the RNLI to continue saving lives at sea.”
