DEWSBURY turned from industrial town to seaside resort - and visitors said it was a huge success. Children, mums and dads flocked to the temporary coastline for the annual Dewsbury-on-Sea event. The change included 12 tonnes of sand, buckets and spades and even a knobbly knees contest. A Kirklees Council spokesman said: "As part of the council's commitment to keeping town centres vibrant, we wanted to create a real flagship event for Dewsbury."
