MORE than 2,000 homes lost power as lightning caused havoc with electricity supplies. Some 1,676 homes in Slaithwaite, Linthwaite, Scapegoat Hill and Golcar were plunged into darkness for up to three hours at 10.09pm on Monday. Lightning hit an overhead power line before wrecking an underground cable. Most supplies were back on by 1.30am yesterday. Then 581 properties were affected in the same areas for an hour. At 2.55am yesterday a transformer was struck by lightning. Fifty-seven homes were affected for 90 minutes.
