DOORSTEP traders will be banned from Lindley in a matter of weeks.
The scheme got the green light after residents agreed that they wanted a ‘no cold calling’ zone.
It means the village is the latest in a growing list of areas in Kirklees to adopt the scheme, including Emley, Meltham and Denby Dale.
Funding for the £12,000 initiative – run with West Yorkshire Trading Standards – was approved last month by Kirklees Council’s Huddersfield North Area Committee.
Information packs about the scheme are now being sent out to residents in the 8,000 homes affected.
Households will get window stickers to display and signs will also be placed on lamp posts warning uninvited sales people.
The scheme bans bogus callers, rogue traders and genuine sales people from knocking on doors in the area.
Householders can call Trading Standards if anyone attempts to trade on their doorstep.
