FIREFIGHTERS attracted an audience when they tackled this smoke-filled garage in Birkby yesterday.
Examiner reader Linda Storey captured the scene on camera as she watched the blaze unfold from her home near to the Marian Street property.
She said: “I could smell really strong smoke and when I looked out the bedroom window the fire was well underway.
“Smoke was billowing out from the roof of the garage and it was really thick.
“There were two fire engines there and firefighters spent about an hour dealing with it – there was a massive hole in the roof in the end.
“It caused quite a commotion, everyone was out on the street taking a look!”
The garage belongs to a terraced house, which is believed to be unoccupied.
