COUNCILLOR wants to build a house in his garden.
Clr David Ridgway has asked Kirklees Council for permission to construct a new home behind his property on Causeway Side in Linthwaite.
The Colne Valley Lib Dem wants to build a two-storey, four-bedroomed home which would be nine metres high and cover an area of 74.5sqm.
The house would be erected behind Clr Ridgway’s 19th Century gable-end property.
The council’s Huddersfield Planning Sub-committee will consider the proposal at its monthly meeting at Huddersfield Town Hall at 1pm tomorrow. JANUARY 27
Kirklees officers have recommended that planning permission is refused because the new home would be inappropriate in Linthwaite Conservation Area.
Clr Ridgway said : "I have land available and this would be a useful plot for a house.
"I was disappointed that officers have recommended refusal."
Last year the Government changed the law to make it more difficult for people to build homes in their gardens.
