A PAEDOPHILE filmed himself sexually touching a seven-year-old girl while she was asleep.

Brian Crossley, of Kaye Lane, Linthwaite, was jailed for two years after admitting sexually assaulting the child on two occasions.

The 31-year-old also pleaded guilty to two offences of making indecent images and six offences of possessing indecent photographs of children.

Bradford Crown Court heard on Thursday how Crossley had let his friend use his phone and the friend had found the depraved videos in a file called ‘Kids’.

Richard Walters, prosecuting, said Crossley was at a party in Halifax on July 3 last year when he assaulted the girl.

Films on his mobile showed the girl asleep and Crossley touching her for about an hour, when other party guests had gone to bed.

When the female friend found the videos she showed them to the girl’s mum and they called the police.

The phone was analysed and 81 indecent images were found ranging from level one to level four (level 5 being the most serious).

One picture showed a 13-year-old girl being forced to engage in oral sex.

Crossley has previous convictions but nothing similar on his record.

Martin Robertshaw, defending, said: “He accepts he has a problem with an attraction to young females.

“That has been exacerbated by his drug use.”

Judge Peter Benson said it was fortunate that the victim was asleep during the abuse and could not remember it happening.

He sentenced Crossley to two years in jail and also ordered him to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.

Crossley was told he must not have unsupervised contact with children during this time.

He said: “It was a prolonged piece of activity, not an isolated act.

“You were in a position of trust, you abused that and you aggravated matters by photographing what you did.”
