TESCO has received the green light to construct an Express store in Linthwaite.

The retail giant has got the go-ahead for its plans on the corner of Hoyle House Fold and Manchester Road n Linthwaite with a possible 18 jobs being created.

Tesco plans to demolish a derelict single-storey building at Colne Valley Business Park to make way for the new store.

The company has previously said told the Examiner its proposal was "very sensitive to the surrounding architecture" and it was "keen to develop the site swiftly".

Tesco is also hoping to open a store at the site of the former Grey Horse pub at Birchencliffe at Birchencliffe which it plans to demolish.

Councillors on Kirklees Council’s Huddersfield planning sub-committee will consider the plan, following a site visit, at a meeting at Huddersfield Town Hall on Thursday at 1pm, November 15.

Tesco already runs five Express stores in Kirklees and has not ruled out another application at the former filling station in North Road, Kirkburton.

New Hey Road, Marsh; Wakefield Road, Moldgreen; Long Lane, Dalton; Leeds Road, Bradley; and Huddersfield Road, Mirfield.
