COLNE Valley Lions handed over £6,500 to Guide Dogs for the Blind.

The presentation, which also marked the changing of the Lions presidency, took place at outgoing president Roger Daker’s house in Golcar.

The new president is John Turner.

The money was raised at wine-tasting sessions, beer festivals and donkey derbies and will purchase a guide dog which the club will name.

Mr Daker said: “The charity is very close to me. I can’t say if it will, but I hope the dog goes to someone in Huddersfield.

“For a small club to raise so much money is amazing.”
