Rush Hour Round-up
Slow traffic at the following places:
- A644 Wakefield Road from junction 25 of the M62 towards the Three Nuns roundabout
- A641 Bradford Road heading out of Huddersfield towards Bradley
- A629 Wakefield Road heading towards Waterloo.
M62 look OK around Huddersfield although there are severe delays going eastbound after junction 28 following an earlier multi-vehicle crash.
Multi-vehicle crash on M62
Very slow traffic and hard shoulder closed due to multi-vehicle accident on M62 Eastbound between J30 A642 (Rothwell) and J31 A655 (Castleford), congestion on M62 to J28 A650 / A653 (Tingley).
The hard shoulder remains closed following the multi-vehicle accident, all live lanes have been re-opened. The road was blocked until around 16.50.
Rolling roadblock on M62
Stationary traffic due to accident and rolling road block on M62 Eastbound between J30 A642 (Rothwell) and J31 A655 (Castleford), congestion to J29 M1 (Lofthouse).
Lanes one and four (of four) were blocked.
No flaws with this band
Hot ticket Huddersfield band Flawes have been added to the Radio 1 Big Weekend bill.
The band will be playing alongside Kings of Leon and Katy Perry at the festival in Hull on May 27 and 28.
Car bursts into flames in Holmfirth
Luckily nobody was hurt in this car fire which broke out early this afternoon on Dunford Road, Holmfirth.
Thankfully the driver got out of her car before the vehicle went up in flames.

Pensioner who died in collision is named by police
Police have confirmed the name of the 81-year-old man who died following a road collision in Horbury.
Last Friday - May 5 - at around 7.45pm on Westfield Road, near to the junction of Victoria Street, there was a collision between a purple Chrysler PT Cruiser and a pedestrian.
The car was driving in the direction of Ossett at the time of the collision.
Gerald Warren, aged 81, also known as Joe, from Horbury, was taken to hospital, but sadly died as a result of his injuries.
His family has leased the following statement: “Joe Warren liked to spend time in his greenhouse and garden; he also liked socialising in Wakefield, Ossett and Horbury with his friends and family.
“He loved to live life to the full and was loved by all who knew him. He had a great sense of humour and he will be very sadly missed by all who knew him. Gone but never forgotten he was a very special Dad and Grandad.”

With very dry conditions and several fires on the South Pennines over the past few weeks it’s important to be vigilant.
David Wagner's Play-Off message to Huddersfield Town's players and fans
David Wagner says Huddersfield Town must hit new highs in the SkyBet Championship Play-Offs.
The German head coach guided Town to fifth in the league during the regular season and a first-ever play-off shot at reaching the Premier League.
It’s a fantastic achievement, but Wagner – who has a full-strength squad apart from suspended loan keeper Danny Ward – reckons Town have to be back to their best and better for the semi-final showdown with Sheffield Wednesday.
Police issue list of lines used by conmen to get into your house
West Yorkshire Police and Trading Standards issued this list as part of their ‘Not Sure? Don’t Open the Door’ campaign.
The force and Trading Standards are offering advice on how to stay safe and they have provided common lines used by rogue traders in order to gain access to your property. They include:
“I was just up on your neighbour’s roof and noticed that you had a few tiles missing from yours….”
“It’s a government scheme for one day only….”
“I will need some cash up front, I can drive you to the bank if you like?”
“If you don’t get the work done now, it’ll cost you more later on down the line….”
“Don’t tell anyone how cheap we’re doing this work for you….”
Drive like a prat and expect points and a big fine
This particular example of bad driving happened on M62 near Scammonden.
Missing Huddersfield teenager 'found safe and well'
A missing 17-year-old from the Huddersfield area has been found, police said tonight.
Police posted a photograph of missing Al-Subhaan Yousaf on social media platforms including on the Force’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Homeless men charged in connection with nightclub shooting
Two homeless men have been charged over a nightclub shooting in Leeds last year.
Seion Allen, aged 33, of no fixed address, is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court this morning charged with attempted murder relating to an incident at Nitetrax nightclub, in Chapeltown Road, in the early hours of Monday, August 29, 2016, where a 42-year-old man was shot.
Kemar Ricketts, aged 29, of no fixed address, appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court yesterday charged with the same offence of attempted murder and was remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on June 8.

We’re waiting outside the Huddersfield Town ticket office to meet fans queueing for Sunday’s match!
Queueing traffic in the town centre
Queueing traffic on A629 Wakefield Road Westbound at A62 Southgate / King Street (Shorehead Roundabout). In the roadworks area.
Fires in Rastrick and Brighouse
Rastrick station attended a grass bank fire on Victoria Road in Lockwood at 7pm.
They also attended a fire in a derelict building in Birds Royd Lane in Brighouse at 7.45pm last night. Both were extinguished with a hose reel.
Car fire in Heckmondwike
Cleckheaton station attended a car fire in Greenside in Heckmondwicke at 9.30pm last night.
Luckily, all of the occupants got out of the Golf TDI before it fully caught light but it was a write off.
The cause of the fire is unknown so police are investigating it. They also attended a separate tree fire.
Rallying call from Town to support the boys on Sunday
A whopping 16,000 tickets have been sold for Sunday’s play-offs starter - and Dean Hoyle, Sean Jarvis and our very own Mel Booth are calling on fans to get behind the club and give them their support into the biggest match in almost 50 years.
Traffic looking steady
There doesn’t seem to be any particular traffic issue this morning. A62 Castlegate is busy but moving at the A640 Trinity Street traffic lights.
