Drugged Audi driver clipped countless kerbs

A couple followed a drugged-up driver for nine miles because they were so concerned that he would hurt somebody.

The pair of Good Samaritans relayed Alex Foy’s whereabouts to police as he sped through a red light, narrowly missed street furniture and a wall and clipped so many kerbs “they lost count.”

One of today's most read

A mum’s trip to her local park ended in disbelief when she found a muddy patch of earth where the playground used to be.

Play equipment at the park in Rufford Road, Golcar, has been removed leaving just a mound of soil.

The play equipment wasn’t in the best shape but it was well-used by local children. Now, it seems, Kirklees Council has ripped the playground up.

Road still closed

Barnsley Road remains closed as the emergency services continue their investigation into what’s been described as a serious collision.

We understand that it was the driver of a VW Golf who was airlifted to hospital. The collision involved what appears to be a large concrete lorry.

The scene of the smash is a quarter of a mile down from Grange Moor roundabout. There are still vehicles held in a queue in Barnsley Road.

Traffic is coping well around the Grange Moor roundabout, however.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police tells us that four vehicles are believed to be involved, including a lorry and a VW Passat car.

The air ambulance was called and it is understood one of the drivers was airlifted to the Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries.

Two lanes closed

There’s another reported accident on the M606 Northbound near the Staygate Roundabout, near the Astonish building, which could impact on your journey. Two of the three lanes are closed.

There’s also a broken down vehicle on the M62 Eastbound near Junction 28 at Tingley which is slowing things down, and traffic is generally heavy on the motorway.

Serious road accident

We’re getting reports of a serious road accident in the Grange Moor/Flockton area. The fire brigade say they are attending a collision between a lorry and a car near the Grange Moor roundabout. The A637 Barnsley Road is blocked in both directions as a result and queues are building. Please avoid if you can.
