Traffic easing
Traffic is easing following delays due to a broken down vehicle on the M62 Eastbound between J24 A629 (Ainley Top) and J25 A644 (Brighouse).
M62 breakdown
One lane closed due to broken down vehicle on M62 Westbound at J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor). Traffic is coping well.
Lane two (of three) is closed. The event is expected to clear between 5.15pm and 5.30pm.
M62 update
All lanes are now open after lane one (of three) was closed due to a broken down vehicle on the M62 Eastbound between J24 A629 (Ainley Top) and J25 A644 (Brighouse). There is now heavy traffic with congestion to J23 A640 / A643 (Huddersfield). Normal traffic conditions are expected between 4.30pm and 4.45pm. There are currently delays of 15 minutes against expected traffic.
M62 lane closure
One lane closed due to a broken down vehicle on the M62 Eastbound between J24 A629 (Ainley Top) and J25 A644 (Brighouse). Traffic is coping well.
Lane one (of three) is closed to assist with a tyre change.
Axe for 50 Mothercare stores
Nursery products retailer Mothercare to axe 50 stores with the loss of hundreds of jobs after posting hefty losses.
But the company, which has a branch at Great Northern Retail Park in Huddersfield, is not disclosing which stores are facing closure “at this time”.
Traffic update
Traffic is slow on the A58 Leeds and Halifax Road at A644 Brighouse Road (Christ Church traffic lights). Travel time is five minutes.
And there’s queueing traffic on the A62 Leeds road Westbound at A644 Wakefield Road (Cooper Bridge Roundabout).
All lanes - OPEN!
Recovery has been completed and all lanes have re-opened. Great job! Hopefully the tailbacks will disappear quickly now.
Recovery on scene
A recovery truck has arrived to start the task of removing the broken down lorry on the M62. Let’s hope it’s a straightforward job.
M62 delays building
Delays on the M62 Westbound around junction 28 at Tingley are building due to the broken down lorry. Two lanes are still closed and traffic is queuing. Delays are estimated at 30 minutes now.
Two lanes closed on M62
There are two lanes, of four, closed on the M62 Westbound between junction 29 at Lofthouse and junction 28 at Tingley due to a broken down lorry.
Traffic is very heavy and there are delays of up to 15 minutes.
Emley Moor mast
It looks like the work on the second Emley Moor mast has been completed and we’ll be speaking to Arqiva later for an update.
This is a great picture - it’s an optical illusion as the new mast is SMALLER than the original. Honest.
All clear
Denby Dale Road at West Bretton has now been cleared after the two-vehicle smash. The road is fully open and traffic has returned to normal.
Crash statement
This is the latest information from West Yorkshire Fire Service. Crews were called to Denby Dale Road at West Bretton just after 6am to reports of a two-vehicle crash.
One casualty was released by firefighters and handed over to the care of paramedics. Appliances attended from Skelmanthorpe and Ossett.
M62 update
The M62 appears to be flowing fine this morning and is busy in the usual places. There’s some queuing traffic around Cooper Bridge Road and the A644 up towards junction 25 at Brighouse. Delays of up of to 10 minutes are reported.
Then there’s this tweet from the M62 just after Birchwood Services coming back towards Huddersfield.
Road partially re-opened
Denby Dale Road at West Bretton is now partially re-opened. Police and fire crews are on the scene and the vehicles are awaiting recovery. This was the West Yorkshire Police tweet from earlier.
Road closed
We’re told the A636 Denby Dale Road at West Bretton, out towards the M1, is closed in both directions due to an accident, two vehicles involved between A637 Huddersfield Road and Woodhouse Lane. Traffic is coping well so far.
