Three men have been arrested in connection with a rape in Huddersfield town centre.

Police still appealing for shooting witnesses

Detectives are still appealing for anyone who witnessed a shooting at Huddersfield Carnival on Saturday.

Three teenagers arrested in connection with the firearms incident on Great Northern Street have today been released pending further enquiries. Read what happened here. Kirklees Council have said they are assisting police with their investigation.

Alcoholic jailed for horrific assault

Thief stole crutches off teenage boy

A 13-year-old boy walking on crutches was punched before having them stolen.

Detectives are investigating the robbery on New Hey Road at Lindley and have today released an efit of the suspect. It happened earlier this year on March 28 at 8.30am when the victim was approached and attacked.

The suspect is described as being around 6ft 2ins tall, of muscular build, with a bald head and a white and brown beard. He was wearing a black coat and navy blue jeans. Anyone with information should contact West Yorkshire Police on 101.

Heavy traffic around Calderdale Hospital

Heavy traffic on A629 Salterhebble Hill and Huddersfield Road around the hospital by A646 Dryclough Lane. Travel time is four minutes.

Road closure

Vehicle recovery on scene

Two lanes remain closed but the broken down lorry on the M62 is being removed.

M62 lanes closed between Manchester and Huddersfield

Two lanes have closed on the westbound carriageway between Manchester and Huddersfield because of a broken down lorry.

Highways are en route to deal with the blockage (in lanes 1 and 2 of 4) between junctions 18 and 19.

Traffic

Here’s what’s happening in the area on the local roads:

  • Slow traffic on the A629 at the Ainley Top roundabout
  • Slow at Cooper Bridge
  • Queuing traffic on Halifax Road at Hipperholme in both directions
  • Congestion on Huddersfield Road, Elland

No major problems to report on the M62 this morning, although traffic is slow in patches eastbound at junction 26 back to 24. Traffic is also slow westbound if you’re heading across the Pennines at junction 19.
