Travel round-up

Here’s the latest on the roads:
1) Slow traffic on A629 in both directions at A643 Lindley Moor Road (Ainley Top Roundabout). It’s in the roadworks area on Lindley Moor Road.

2) Queueing traffic on A62 Leeds road Westbound at A644 Wakefield Road (Cooper Bridge Roundabout). Travel time is five minutes.

3) Heavy traffic on A629 Salterhebble Hill and Huddersfield Road around the hospital by A646 Dryclough Lane. Travel time is six minutes.

M62 accident

One lane closed and heavy traffic due to accident, two cars involved on M62 Westbound at J25 A644 Wakefield Road (Brighouse).

9 weeks of Calderdale roadworks

Nine weeks of roadworks in Calderdale road will begin on Monday.

It’s taking place in and around Bolton Brow, Sowerby Bridge and will involve the following:

  • Phase 1 (Bolton Brow between Gratrix Lane and Wakefield Road) – From Monday 23 July, for approximately three-weeks, the right-turn from Bolton Brown into Wakefield Road will be suspended (a signed diversion route will be in place). Access to Gratrix Lane from Bolton Brow will also be suspended.
  • Phase 2 (Bolton Brow between Gratrix Lane and Wakefield Road for three-weeks) – Existing traffic signals will be suspended and replaced with four-way temporary lights. Right-turn, from Wakefield Road in to Bolton Brow, will be suspended for HGV’s with a signed diversion in place. Access to Gratrix Lane from Bolton Brow will also still be suspended.
  • Phase 3/4 (Bolton Brow and Wakefield Road for three-weeks) – Temporary four-way lights will still be in place on Wakefield progressing towards East Parade. As part of this phase access to East Parade will be suspended and a signed diversion route in place. A temporary pedestrian crossing will also be introduced.

M62 lane closure

M62 lane closure:

One lane closed and slow traffic due to broken down vehicle on M62 from J26 A638 (Chain Bar) to J25 A644 Wakefield Road (Brighouse).
Lane one (of four) is closed for recovery work.

M1 lane closure

One lane of the M1 is closed and there’s slow traffic due to broken down vehicle.

It’s on M1 Southbound from J41 A650 (Carrgate) to J40 A638 Wakefield Road (Flushdyke).

Train delays due to Paddock incident

National Rail say due to “ trespassers on the railway between Huddersfield and Slaithwaite is causing disruption to journeys between Huddersfield and Stalybridge”

They say train services may be cancelled, delayed or revised and disruption is expected until 16:15.

Coroner appeals for relatives of merchant seaman

Any relatives of Bradford man Alan Thompson are asked to call the West Yorkshire Coroners Office.

Mr Thompson, 64, was found dead at his home address of Chassum Grove on 9 July.

He died of natural causes.

Very little is known about Mr Thompson although it is thought he had previously been a merchant seaman.

Any relatives are asked to contact Coroners Officer Gemma Harrison on 01274 373721.

Train delays

Rail lines are open but there are delays of 25 minutes due to a points failure near Huddersfield.

Trains are now able to run between Huddersfield and Dewsbury and between Huddersfield and Leeds via Brighouse, but National Rail say some “services are expected to be delayed by up to 25 minutes or cancelled.”

A warning, there’s slow traffic on A629 Salterhebble Hill and Huddersfield Road around the hospital by A646 Dryclough Lane.

It’s due to the roadworks and volume of traffic.

Police are releasing an Efit image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a burglary in Brighouse.

The incident happened on the 18 June between 6:30pm and 8:30pm when suspects broke into some apartments at Millroyd Mill, on Huddersfield Road.

Two male suspects entered the apartments wearing fluorescent jackets and white hard hats.

They made an untidy search in an apartment and stole a Breitling watch and a laptop worth thousands of pounds.

Both suspects then fled the scene.
