A LIVERSEDGE woman will have to pay more than £850 for failing to tidy up her messy garden.

Melinda Boros, of Firthcliffe Parade, has been fined for leaving waste in her garden.

Dewsbury Magistrates found her guilty in her absence and fined her £610 with £15 victim support and £252 costs for failing to comply with a Section 46 notice served under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

The court was told Kirklees Council had complaints from her neighbours about bags of rubbish in the garden in January.

Despite being visited the problem continued and she was served with a Section 46 notice on January 25 telling her she must put her waste in the bins provided by the council and put her bins out for collection.

A fixed penalty notice of £100 was issued when Ms Boros did not comply with the notice and she was prosecuted when she failed to pay the fine and clear up the waste. She ignored the fine.
