MEMBERS of a business networking group were given the run of a Huddersfield department store – and were asked to donate a toy for needy children at Christmas.
The Local Ladies networking group held an evening event after shopping hours at the House of Fraser in Kingsgate.
Guests were asked to bring a toy to donate to the Yorkshire Children’s Centre at Brian Jackson House, New North Parade.
Some 65 toys were donated as a result of the initiative headed by Ramsdens Solicitors, Heritage Exchange at Lindley and accountancy firm Revell Ward.
Ruth Duffy, of the children’s centre, said: “We were delighted with everyone’s generosity and these presents no doubt brought a lot of joy to many families in need over Christmas.”
Sinead Sopala, marketing manager at Ramsdens, said: “Supporting the children’s centre was an easy decision and ensured that the toys generously donated by our guests went to youngsters in our very own community who might not otherwise have received any Christmas gifts.
“It’s sad to think that there are children living in genuine need and deprivation in Kirklees and that’s why this appeal is so important to help families out at this time of year.”
