TWO brothers accused of failing to stop a vicious dog attack on a Huddersfield mum-of-two have appeared in court again.

Wiqas Mahmud, 29, of Mount Street, Lockwood, and Shahid Mahmud, 35, of Banks Crescent, Golcar, yesterday appeared before Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court for the fourth time.

The pair are charged with owning a mixed-breed dog banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act and allowing it to be dangerously out of control.

It is claimed that the pitbull-type dog, named Troy, attacked Waheeda Akhtar, 26, on Upper Mount Street in Lockwood on March 2.

The mum-of-two’s cheek was ripped off and she needed surgery and a skin graft for her injuries.

The brothers appeared before magistrates for a brief hearing.

The case was adjourned until July 28 for further reports.

Magistrates granted the pair unconditional bail in the meantime.
