A LOCKWOOD man will be tried at Crown Court accused of defrauding learner drivers by posing as an instructor.

Maneer Siddique, 40, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with fraud by false representation in Huddersfield between December 2010 and September 2011.

The court sitting at Huddersfield heard how Siddique, above, purported to be a qualified driving instructor and gained £2,800 from three learner drivers in the 10-month period.

All three charges relate to the fraud at Huddersfield Driving Test Centre on Waverley Road near the town centre.

The defendant will next appear before Leeds Crown Court on August 23.

He was granted unconditional bail.
