A MAN aged 53 has been sent for trial accused of rape and sexual assault.

Neil Cornes, of Bunny Park, Lockwood, faces two charges of raping a woman over 16.

One of the alleged offences happened at an address in Lockwood on October 18 last year and the other in a motor vehicle in Huddersfield on August 1 last year.

Cornes is also charged with three offences of sexual assault on a female, two of which took place between July 17 and October 18 last year and the third on October 2 last year.

He is further charged with assaulting a female causing actual bodily harm between February 1 2000 and April 1 2000.

District Judge Hopkinson, sitting at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court, sent the case to Leeds Crown Court on August 6. Cornes’ unconditional bail was extended.
