THIS is Ebony – the Staffordshire bull terrier left for days without any food.
Owner Gemma Gill, 23, of Horse Bank Drive, Lockwood, pleaded guilty at Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court to causing unnecessary suffering to her pet.
Gill was given an 18 month supervision order and given a 7pm to 7am curfew for eight weeks.
She was banned from keeping animals for five years and given a bill for £260 costs.
On May 9 last year, the RSPCA found the dog in the kitchen with her ribs and bones sticking out and she was having trouble walking. A vet estimated that she had been without food and/or water for one to two weeks.
Because she was so dehydrated she was put on a drip immediately.
The pet was later taken to an animal centre in Bradford to be looked after.
Ebony has now been re-homed and renamed Missy.
After being found she weighed just 5.5kg but in less than a month has been nursed back to a healthy 11.9kg.
