HAIR stylists are used to working long hours.

But a Honley salon is going that extra 12 hours to raise charity cash.

Martin Gledhill, owner of the G Six salon in Westgate, and colleague Annabel Roberts have organised a 24-hour hairdressing marathon in aid of Kirkwood Hospice.

They aim to cut and colour the hair of 48 people between them from 9am on Monday, October 15, to 9am on the Tuesday.

They already have 19 people booked in and would like more people to join the event.

Martin said: “I did a similar event years ago in Liverpool and it was very successful.

“The hospice shop has just opened in the village and Kirkwood itself is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary, so we’re keen to support its good work.”

The event aims to raise about £1,000 for the Dalton hospice.

Clients will pay an all-in price of £45 for a cut and colour, with £20 of that cost going to the hospice.

There will also be a raffle, with voucher prizes.

Martin is also hoping that shops in the village will give gifts to help out.

Anyone wanting to book an appointment as part of the marathon can ring the salon on 01484 666035.
